Santa Fe College opens doors to global classrooms with study abroad programs!
For current students, these programs integrate with their academic plan, so they stay on track while broadening their horizons. Yes, many can turn to services like EssayShark for educational support at home, but nothing replaces the insights gained from crossing continents for knowledge. It’s an investment in students’ résumés and their personal and professional growth.
Santa Fe College’s faculty‑led programs cover a spectrum of interests and disciplines. Below is a short overview of this year’s opportunities.
Programs and Destinations
Santa Fe College leads several programs in 2025. This year’s destinations include:
- Art & Latin American Humanities in Mexico:
Led by Professors Matt Michel and Mario Mutis, this nine‑day program explores Mexico City’s art scene, colonial architecture, and contemporary cultural movements. Students visit renowned museums and participate in hands-on workshops with local artists.
- African Humanities & Art History in Morocco:
Under the guidance of Dr. Sarah Cervone and Dr. Claire Orenduff, participants examine Moroccan art traditions, from ancient mosaics to modern design. Seminar sessions in Rabat and Fes complement excursions to UNESCO World Heritage sites.
- Asian Religions & Digital Media in Japan:
Professors Jason McCombs and Tommy Maple lead this program through Tokyo, Kyoto, and Hiroshima. Students study religious iconography alongside new media installations, then create their digital media projects inspired by temple architecture.
Costs and Funding Options for Students to Join the Program
- Program fees: Include in‑state tuition, housing, select meals, and group excursions. Airfare, personal spending, and optional tours are extra.
- Financial aid: Federal Pell Grants and Direct Loans may apply to summer study abroad if enrolled in eligible credit hours. Consult the Financial Aid Office for guidance.
- SF scholarships: The annual Study Abroad Scholarship offers up to $1,500 to qualifying students; additional awards like the McRae Scholarship reward academic excellence and need.
- External grants: Programs such as the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship or Boren Awards provide funding for undergraduates, those studying languages or STEM fields.
